The following is what suddenly came to Jiiji late one night (at the hour of Ushitora, the hour of the Earth God):
It is said that the Sun is approximately 4.6 billion years old. Similarly, the Earth is also said to be about 4.6 billion years old. This suggests that the purpose behind the formation of the Sun and the Earth might be the same.
Within the heliosphere—the sphere of influence of the Sun—it is said to take approximately 8 minutes and 20 seconds for light to travel from the Sun to Earth. Yet, the heliosphere is said to have a diameter of about 2 light-years. If we compare the distance from the Sun to Earth with the size of the heliosphere, both in seconds, the time it takes for sunlight to reach Earth is 500 seconds (8 minutes and 20 seconds), whereas the radius of the heliosphere is 1 light-year, which equals 365 days × 24 hours × 60 minutes × 60 seconds = 31,536,000 seconds. In other words, the radius of the heliosphere is 63,072 times the distance from the Sun to Earth. The scale is that different, and from that perspective, one could say that the Sun and Earth are one and the same.
In fact, the nine celestial bodies—Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and even Pluto—can be viewed as one with the Sun. Everything within the heliosphere is like a family of the Sun. Among them, Earth—located within the heliosphere, which spans 2 light-years in diameter, at a distance where light takes 8 minutes and 20 seconds to reach it—is essentially an extension of the Sun itself. This led me to wonder: when the Sun was formed, might the purpose behind its creation and the purpose behind Earth’s formation have been one and the same?
Humans exist within the universe, yet we cannot physically verify even the solar system—which is far smaller than the Milky Way Galaxy (with a diameter of about 100,000 light-years)—let alone the truly vast Milky Way itself. We do not even fully understand the true nature of the Sun, which lies 500 seconds away from Earth at the speed of light.
In such a vast universe, what was the purpose behind creating this solar system, the significance of bringing it into being, or the will of the entity that accomplished it?
Humans are but minute beings existing in this vast universe. On Earth, from the dawn of humanity to the present day (approximately 4 million years, from hominids to the present), humans have always revered the Sun as the most essential source of their existence. This leads to the following thought: Was the solar system created 4.6 billion years ago specifically to enable life to emerge on Earth, with the Sun serving as its foundation?
The first 600 million years of Earth’s history are said to be known as the “Hadean Eon.” Within Earth’s 4.6 billion-year history, this is the story of the early Earth and the Sun. As for what happened on Earth during this period, it is said that in its early stages, Earth was a scorching star of molten magma. And in outer space, there were countless materials (asteroids) that would eventually become stars. These were drawn in by Earth’s gravity, becoming meteorites, and as they collided one after another, they formed this planet. Because these collisions were so intense and continuous, they generated even more heat, turning Earth into a high-temperature, high-pressure planet composed of carbon dioxide. Eventually, as the surrounding asteroids were largely depleted and the collisions ceased, Earth gradually cooled and solidified.
The period from Earth’s birth up to 4 billion years ago (the Hadean Eon) was the stage during which Earth’s foundation was laid. Now, let’s consider how life began to emerge there. Today, observations regarding Earth’s origins have advanced; when we observe asteroids currently existing in space and collect samples from them, we find evidence of water. Furthermore, these samples reportedly contain trace elements such as iron, as well as organic compounds like amino acids and sugars. These asteroids were drawn into Earth’s gravitational pull, becoming meteorites that rained down one after another, serving as the raw materials for the planet. A massive supply of various substances—including water, amino acids, and sugars like glucose—was introduced into the scorching sea of magma created by violent collisions, triggering chemical reactions. Under high temperatures and pressures, Earth became a laboratory for the formation of matter, and it has recently been proven that the building blocks of life were formed during the early Hadean Eon. Over the subsequent 4 billion years, life flourished on Earth, and the course of its evolution has led to us, the human race, today. When we unravel the history of the solar system in this way, we can see that everything from its beginning to the present day is connected as a single narrative.
Although humans are physically incapable of observing the true nature of the solar system, let alone the entire universe, they possess the ability to comprehend the purpose behind the universe’s inception and the will of the universe itself. History shows that the universe’s 13.8 billion-year evolution occurred precisely to create such unique beings as physical life forms. Within this, the 4.6 billion-year history of the Sun and Earth has unfolded, leading us to the present day.
So what does it mean that humans have now created such a world on Earth and are speaking about it in this way? This, too, was likely one of the purposes behind the creation of humanity. Today, humans are expanding an artificial world on Earth, and from a human perspective, one could say we are evolving in a certain sense. However, let us examine this evolution from a broader perspective. In other words, what was the purpose behind the galaxy creating the solar system, the solar system creating Earth within itself, giving rise to life there, and ultimately giving birth to the human species as an extension of that process? And what is expected of humanity beyond that narrative? When we consider this, we can see that the evolutionary process humanity has expressed on Earth has also woven a story under the guidance of the great will that created this world, leading us to where we are today.
The convergence of that cosmic will and the will that arises within the humans created by it is the very purpose of humanity’s continued prosperity on Earth, and it is precisely this that will lead us into the cosmic age. The time is finally approaching when humanity will come to realize why we emerged in this particular state within the cosmos.
Why have humans become such foolish and childish creatures? They live on Earth as if it were their own, regarding everything as their personal property. Yet in reality, whether on Earth or in the cosmos, there is not a single thing that humans have created on their own; everything has been given to them. Given this, why have they fallen into such a profound misunderstanding?
As an extension of this reality, we have reached a time when we must grasp this great question not from a human subjective perspective, but from an objective one, and furthermore, understand the “Kyakkan-Haigo (Objective Background)”—the cosmic wisdom that encompasses even that objectivity. When we overcome this folly and stand in a position to understand such cosmic wisdom, we may begin to glimpse an era in which humanity—born on Earth, a miracle of the universe—contributes to the next cosmic era by evolving and developing into the most precious and superior beings within the great cycle of life.
Spanning 4.6 billion years since the Earth’s formation, 4 billion years since the origin of life, and 200,000 years of human history, this magnificent and diverse ecosystem teeming with life is portrayed as a single cycle of life. The story that has been woven into the Earth through such a meticulously layered sequence of events can now be traced in the meteorites buried within the Earth and the asteroids drifting through space. It is precisely because humans, despite our folly, possess advanced capabilities that we have been able to perceive the message of this cosmic narrative.
Including the folly of humanity up to this point, and in order to connect it to the noble role humanity must fulfill in the future, the purpose of the grand narrative that created Earth—the planet of life—along with the birth of the solar system has suddenly welled up as human wisdom at this stage. When we consider this, we realize that the 4.6-billion-year story of the Sun is now calling upon us, humanity, to write the conclusion of that story from here on out.
From the perspective of cosmic ethics, the artificial world brought about by our chaotic modern human society has become something far removed from the natural world of life that exists under cosmic ethics. However, what humanity has built over the 6,500 years since the dawn of civilization is, compared to the 4.6-billion-year-long story of wisdom woven throughout Earth’s history, an extremely fleeting event—akin to a stimulus designed to awaken humanity. Once again, humanity is called upon to return to its position as a member of the Earth’s ecological system prior to the emergence of civilization and to awaken to the noble role of humanity embedded within this 4.6-billion-year narrative. When that awakening occurs, the wisdom of the 6,500-year-old civilization—often referred to as “artificial”—will also demonstrate its value in the coming cosmic age. That time is now upon us.
Thus, people today must cast aside old illusions and reset themselves to welcome a new era. The word “reset” may conjure images of great chaos, but if humanity raises its consciousness and activates the 90% of the brain that lies dormant within, there will be no chaos at all; instead, we can achieve a soft landing and attain enlightenment for the new cosmic age.
We, as living beings within the cosmic narrative of the Sun’s 4.6 billion years and the Earth’s 4.6 billion years, are creations of the Sun’s light, and we come to understand that we are one under its great will. How precious this is. Now, standing at the threshold of the 21st century, we look back on the childishness, foolishness, and widespread chaos visible in our society today. We are on the eve of correcting these flaws, reclaiming our rightful place as HiTo—as living beings—and attaining enlightenment.
Feeling the light of that dawn breaking through like a gentle breeze, my soul is now filled with joy and excitement as I spend this sleepless pre-dawn hour (the hour of Ushitora).
